Trump Organization Enters Telecom: $499 U.S.-Built Smartphone and “47 Plan” Mobile Service Launched . When Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump strode onto the stage at Trump Tower on June 16, 2025, they weren’t there to unveil another golf course or brand extension. Instead, they introduced Trump Mobile, featuring a gold-trimmed smartphone priced at $499 and a new monthly service dubbed “The 47 Plan” for $47.45 per month.

The centerpiece, the T1 Phone, runs on Android 15 and boasts a 6.8-inch display, a 50 MP main camera, 12 GB RAM, and 256 GB storage. Marketed as a U.S.-built device, it reportedly combines components assembled in Alabama, California, and Florida .

Trump Mobile, packaged as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), will piggyback on networks from Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile, with plans to offer “5G service through all three carriers,” along with perks like telemedicine, 24/7 roadside assistance, and unlimited international calls to over 100 countries.

The “47 Plan” nods to Donald Trump’s dual role as both the 45th and current 47th U.S. president. Licensing, not direct manufacture, governs the venture—DTTM Operations will license the brand to unnamed partners and has filed new trademarks for phones, accessories, and future retail outlets under the “T1” and “Trump” names.

A Made-in-America Pitch

At the announcement, Donald Trump Jr. emphasized that “hard-working Americans deserve a wireless service that’s affordable, reflects their values, and delivers reliable quality.”

Eric Trump told Fox Business they aim for “phones built by Americans, for Americans.” Reports from ABC News and CBS MoneyWatch highlighted a commitment to no-contract plans, no credit checks, and U.S.-based customer support in call centers being established in St. Louis, Missouri.

Industry reactions ranged from intrigue to skepticism. Carl Pei, CEO of the UK-based phone maker Nothing, quipped the arrival of Trump Mobile meant “Phone (3) has some competition now… We’re cooked.” Analysts remain cautious, noting that domestic phone manufacturing is rare due to high costs—Purism remains the only known U.S. manufacturer charging nearly $2,000 for its smartphones.

Telecom analysts also point out that MVNOs typically hold 3–4% of the U.S. market and struggle with customer retention unless they surpass the one-million subscriber threshold . Still, Trump’s launch coincides with his recent push to protect domestic manufacturing, including threats of 25% tariffs on Apple and Samsung unless they move production back to the U.S.

The Broader Strategy

The timing is no accident. It marks the 10th anniversary of Trump’s first presidential campaign, aligning commerce and politics. The Trumps view this as another way to monetize their brand while reinforcing a America-first narrative.

Meanwhile, scrutiny is rising: critics argue that the Trump Organization is entering a highly regulated industry and could benefit from executive oversight—raising questions about potential conflicts of interest

Still, the pitch is resonating with some. At $499, the T1 Phone costs roughly one-third of high-end iPhones and claims to offer uncompromised American craftsmanship—if it truly delivers.
